Ignota is built around the principle of giving and receiving, a process we believe requires no sense of debt or accreditation. The word ignota is Latin for unknown; thus each scholarship is awarded anonymously, with recipients made aware of the source of their funding only at a much later stage. We believe this empowers individuals to accept our support without feeling indebted. It is our hope that our scholars, and our Ignota community, while recognizing the importance behind the gesture of giving, realise over time that, in fact, the "grace of the gesture" is far more valuable and strive, in turn, to pay their experiences forward.
Likewise, Ignota’s partners join our community not seeking recognition for their generous contributions, but rather to be part of a powerful movement to improve the lives of young people across the UK.
Ignota's core donors are private individuals, just like our founder, who wish to enrich the lives of underprivileged young people across the UK while understanding that their donations remain anonymous, as does the relationship between Ignota and the students.
Ignota also works with a range of organisations to develop projects and ideas
that enhance our vision. We push the boundaries of what is typically available to disadvantaged children and look to corporate and government organisations to influence thinking and
promote policies that aid this development. Our business and political partners include private and public companies; government and non-government organisations; and think tanks.
If you are a private citizen or a company interested in developing educational opportunities for young people, or if you work in public policy or
thought leadership in this area, we’d like to hear from you. Please send us an email to register
your interest.
Thank you for your interest in joining the Ignota community. Your involvement will make a significant difference in the lives of the students we aim to help. We can help tailor any donation, whether personal or through your trust or foundation, to ensure its maximum impact on the development of young people across the UK.
As an Ignota partner, you will receive updates on our scholarship students and invites to a range of exclusive events with fellow members of the Ignota community.
To proceed with your pledge, please contact us. An Ignota administrator will be in touch after we receive your email to further discuss your pledge and provide accounting information. If you are based in the U.S., you may donate via our affiliated organisation, Friends of Ignota. Please contact us for further details.
