Trustee

Guy Bennett

Guy Bennett was born in Reading, England and grew up in North London. He was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in the History of Art from the University of California, Berkeley and completed his post-graduate studies in the History of Art at Oxford University, Hertford College.

In 1997, Guy joined Christie's 20th Century Art department. In 2004, he was appointed Head of the Impressionist and Modern Art Evening Sales, and in 2006, he became International Head of the department and a Senior Vice President of the company. After leaving Christie's in 2009, Guy became Chief of Acquisitions and Collections for Qatar Museums. His work in Doha over the past five years has forged an international network of communication through the arts and helped position Doha as a future hub of culture and art.

Donating his time as an auctioneer, Guy has raised over £200 million for various charities, including the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, New York Collaborates for Autism, Greenwich Hospital, Artspace, and the Center for Discovery. Guy is also a founding investor in Zeus Sports Ltd. Led by its director, England Rugby player Chris Robshaw, Zeus produces a wide range of special events for companies, charities, clubs and individuals. Guy is impressed by the enthusiasm, proactivity, and potential of the company’s young directors and has stepped into a mentoring role to financially and emotionally support some of England’s most promising young entrepreneurs.

Guy currently lives in New York City with his wife and three children.

Harry Blain

Harry Blain is the Founding Director and CEO of the international art gallery, Blain|Southern, as well as s[edition], an online resource where editioned, digital artworks by the world's leading contemporary artists can be bought and traded. He established Haunch of Venison Gallery in 2002 and sold the gallery to Christie’s in 2007, whereupon he then continued to run the gallery and oversee post war and contemporary private sales for Christies. In 2010, Harry left Haunch of Venison to establish Blain|Southern, where he has worked to build the careers of many of the world’s leading contemporary artists. Blain|Southern also fosters the placement of works into public collections and supports its artists’ broader activities. This includes the administration of the gift, and subsequent loan, to the Tate Museum of Bill Viola’s site-specific permanent installation for St Paul’s Cathedral, London.

Harry dedicates significant efforts towards philanthropy and charitable work by hosting, supporting and contributing to many charity art auctions and fundraisers. He is a patron of the Waterberg Welfare Society and has chaired the NSPCC Art Ball on two consecutive years. He currently works and lives in London.

Ben Youard

Ben Youard was born in London and grew up in North London and California. He obtained a Bsc (Hons) in Construction Engineering and Management from Middlesex University and subsequently worked in hospitality for ten years, all the while traveling extensively and living in North and South America, Europe, Australia, and the Indian sub-continent.

Ben caught the “education bug” when he found himself teaching to Tibetan Monks in Northern India in 2002. Soon after, he officially started a teaching career; his first teaching post was at a challenging inner-city school in London in 2003 and he hasn’t looked back since. He is currently a Maths teacher in Kent, where he has lived with his wife and two young sons since 2012.
